At eCap Marine, we are revolutionising and redefining the industry with emission-free, sustainable energy solutions, driving the liveable future! Our Initiation

eCap Marine started its mission more than 10 years ago by developing and realising clean power generation solutions in the port of Hamburg in northern Germany as HPE Hybrid Port Energy. Our first projects were focused on flexible solutions for onshore power supply, i.e. cold ironing. We designed, engineered, commissioned and operated the world’s first floating power plant (CHP), the Hybrid Power Barge "Hummel". This innovative barge initially uses NG or LNG as fuel to generate power for cruise ships during their layovers in port, which has significantly lowered emissions of harmful substances (CO2, NOx, no SOx, Particulates) compared to marine diesel engines. By doing so, the Power Barge allows vessels to turn off diesel generators while docked at ports, improving the air quality in harbour cities and showcasing its reliability as a sustainable maritime energy solution.

Our Achievements

To date, we have primed ourselves at the forefront in designing, engineering, and integrating both fixed and mobile (containerised) power generation solutions, either being integrated under or on deck as ship propulsion on water and land for energy supply.  Acquiring leading-edge technologies such as hydrogen, batteries (and/or hybrid), and assuring the complete systems to be compact with minimal footprint and enhanced with the possibility of being moved to either multiple locations for operational or for maintenance purposes, maximising their flexibility and utilisation, thus achieving excellent operational and economic benefits.
