Battery Energy Storage System – BESS

With lithium-ion technology's improved capacity-to-weight ratio, batteries of that kind have become attractive options for large-scale energy supply. They provide extraordinary environmental and economic benefits, significantly lowering emission and maintenance costs. For that, eCap Marine has developed a Battery Energy Supply and Storage System (BESS), branded as eCap Battery PowerPac, which can be used for maritime applications, either under the deck of vessel installation or a containerised, thus mobile and swappable solution, to be placed on the deck of the vessel; likewise as an onshore charging station for shoreside facilities.

Compact, modular, tailor-made: eCap Battery PowerPac

The eCap Battery PowerPac is available in a 10ft, 20ft, 40ft or 45ft ISO container with designated capacity (kWh). It features pure battery capacity or a combination of a battery and a hydrogen-powered fuel cell system to supply energy (DC or AC output). We provide our clients with the complete package of “Plug & Play” power supply systems by integrating cable management, power management system, control panel and remote condition monitoring features.

Therefore, our Battery PowerPac suits a wide range of environmentally friendly and flexible applications, such as fast-charging electric and hybrid vessels, propulsion systems, extension of machinery rooms, peak shaving, hotel load, load levelling, spinning reserve, etc. It is also ideal as a swappable battery solution and a mobile emergency power supply or charging station on shore.

Safe and sustainable LFP battery system

High-quality and inherently safe LFP battery cells do not catch fire in case of thermal runaway, overcharge, short-circuit, or mechanical damage. With permanent monitoring by their battery management system (BMS) on cell, module and rack levels, LFP battery systems guarantee the highest safety standards without propagation from cell to cell. Furthermore, lithium ferrophosphat (LFP) is the only chemistry used in Li-Ion batteries that occurs in its chemical composition as a natural mineral. It makes LFP batteries another environmentally friendly, green energy supply and storage solution.

We collaborate with Lehmann Marine for safe maritime applications. We deploy their CUBE Battery System (type-approved by BV, DNV, LR and RINA) in our compact and flexible Battery PowerPac.
